banned books week challenge

the time of year is upon us again. banned books week is something very near and dear to my heart. before i go on ranting and raving, i encourage you to drop by this site and take a read through the information there. many of my favourites have been banned or challenged. so to celebrate my personal freedom to read any book i please…i celebrate banned books week. last year i reread two old favourites: to kill a mockingbird and of mice and men. then i picked up a new one: fahrenheit 451…incredible book!

so here is my challenge to you: READ A BANNED BOOK or two, or three! my plan this year is to reread an old favourite and pick up a two new ones! just a note about “old favourites” … it is so interesting to me to go back and read books that i read in high school or in my early twenties. i was not a Christian then so it’s really interesting to go back and read them in a new Light.

old read: the catcher in the rye by j.d. salinger

new reads: the picture of dorian gray by oscar wilde and a wrinkle in time by madeleine l’engle

ok here’s the deal. banned books week officially starts september 26 and ends oct 3. so get out there and find that banned book that you’ve always wanted to read! who’s in?
